Yoon Hyun-Sook

Yeom So-Rim
Abstract
This study examined the mediating effects of resilience on the relationship between depression and suicidal ideation among older adults. 2,034 elderly aged 65 and over living in Chun-cheon participated in this study. While depression has positive effects on suicidal ideation, it has negative effects on resilience. Further, resilience has negative effects on suicidal ideation and mediates the relationship between depression and suicidal ideation. Results suggest that reducing depression and improving resilience are needed to decrease suicidal ideation of older adults, especially increasing resilience is needed to prevent negative effects of depression on suicidal ideation of older adults.
